Welcome to the first newsletter of the Sherborne School International College Old Scholars Association (ICOSA) which any former pupils who attended the school prior to 1997 will know as Sherborne School International Study Centre or maybe just the "Study Centre"!

I am delighted to hear that a decision has been made to establish an old scholars association for a school which was set up in 1977, and celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.

There are now, of course, other Study Centres, but none with the pioneering history of International College. Back in 1977 little or no provision was available for students who wished to enter the British Independent sector aiming to join top Public Schools.

The International Study Centre was the first to provide such an opportunity with its unique role in bridging the educational, linguistic and cultural differences between England and other countries.

I am fortunate enough to receive correspondence from many old students who are kind enough to ‘keep in touch’. Now we have e-mail, such correspondence has increased. Nevertheless I still frequently wonder what has happened to the estimated 2,000 students who have been educated at the College during my time here (I arrived in 1979!) and I feel sure you would welcome the chance to be re-united with friends who went through the same introduction to boarding school
life as yourself, whether that was in Greenhill House, Amberley, Newell Grange,
King Mswati III House, Cheapside, Cutlers, or our girls boarding house at Westcott.

Similarly I am sure you would be interested to learn about how the College has developed since you left and what exciting plans we have for the future. ICOSA intends to provide all this information, with the possibility of reunion meetings at locations across the globe. A web-site has been created at www.icosa.org and this will provide much information about your old school.

I would love to hear where you are and what
you are doing and would urge every one of
you to fill-in and return the form enclosed in this newsletter to the College as soon as you
can. Alternatively, the form can be filled-in on-line via the web-site.

Together we made the College the success itis today and always has been.

Hopefully, together, we can make ICOSA a similar
success.
With best wishes,
P. A. Hardaker ~ Vice Principal International College
